Invitation

Almanaque Económico

The following invitation is extended to undergraduate students of any major and institution for the submission of Economics papers. Following a review process, papers will be published in the Colegio de México undergraduate student journal “Almanaque Económico”, at the end of 2019.

Submitted papers must comply with the following requirements, or they will be rejected immediately. Please read them carefully.


General requirements

The paper must be an academic paper. We do not accept essays, poetry, narrative, letters, op-eds or any other sort of content.

The paper must contain citations and bibliography.

The paper must be original and unpublished in any physical or electronic media, including blogs or any social network.

The paper must be sent through THIS FORM (https://goo.gl/forms/G6FovlJWCR9araVa2) before May 30th

The paper may be an individual or collaborative work, but all authors must be undergraduates. 4 authors at most.

The paper must be written in Spanish or English.

The chosen language must be consistent throughout the paper (except for the abstracts and titles, which may be written in both English and Spanish, separately)

Referenced texts may be in any language, but where included in the article, they must be in the language used. If the authors have made the translation themselves, this must be stated.

Maximum 10 pages, including images, tables and cover, NOT including the Reference section

The paper must be sent on a “.zip” file containing either:

  • A “.doc” or “.docx” document along with the images used in “.eps” file format
  • or as a LaTeX project that includes at least a “.tex” file and a “.bib” file along with the images used in “.eps” file format

Graphs and tables must be legible and of a reasonable size. 

Additionally, any statistical or econometric analysis must be done in Stata, R or EViews.

  • If so, the original data must be included (previous to any changes done by the user). Files must be in any of the following file extensions: “.dta”, “.csv”, “.xls” or “.xlsx”. Furthermore, the executable file must be included: “.do” (for Stata), “.r” (for R) or “.wfl” (for EViews).
  • At the start of the executable file, the source for all data used must be included as a comment.


Sections must be titled as such, with the exception of the “Body”, which may have any title, and the author may choose to divide it in sections and/or subsections 

No personal information may be written in the article, be it name of the authors, place of study, current semester, or any other identifying information. This information is offered separately on the submission form.
The paper must follow the Chicago/Turabian Notes and Bibliography Style. The citation format must be consistent with the chosen language of the paper.



Adicionalmente, si se desea realizar un análisis estadístico o econométrico, este debe realizarse en STATA, R o EViews.

  • En este caso, se debe de incluir el archivo original (previo a cualquier cambio) de los datos en formato “.dta”, “.csv”, “.xls” o “.xlsx” así como un archivo “.do” para STATA, “.r” para R o “.wfl” para EViews.
  • Al comienzo del archivo ejecutable, debe incluirse como comentario la fuente de cada base de datos usada (además de citarla en las secciones correspondientes del artículo).

Structure

The article must contain the following sections in order, though there is no required length for each. The first page is a cover containing only the Title and Abstract.

1.    Title in the language chosen for the paper (or in both Spanish and English). 
2.    Abstract in the language chosen for the paper (or in both Spanish and English)
3.    Introduction. 
4.    Body. 
5.    Conclusion.
